Happy Homeowners: The Heimericks Family

We have another "Happy Homeowners" series for you! This one is about the Heimericks family, who built their home with Summit and just moved in at the beginning of 2014. We did an "email interview" to find out what they thought about the building experience with Summit. Keep reading to find out what they said!

How did you hear about Summit Custom Homes?

 My husband and I heard about Summit because of multiple tours of the Parade of Homes.  As we looked at many homes by many different builders we started to notice the attention to detail and quality that Summit seemed to have.  We also liked the floor plans that Summit offered.

What made you decide to build your home, rather than purchasing one that was already built?

 I’ve always wanted to build a house.  My parents did a custom build when I was a kid and for me the process of being able to choose everything from the lot location to the tile was interesting and exciting for me.

Explain what you were looking for in a new home.

 Lots of things!  Probably the most important items for us were lot location, a larger garage, a guest room with its own dedicated bath, a finished basement, an outdoor entertaining space, and a great school district.

What do you like best about The Shores at Chapman Farms?

 We liked the location! Finding someplace that was closer to the ‘city’ than we had been but still making commuting reasonable for both of us was important.  We also liked the amenities of the community from the pool, fishing in the lake, to the trail.  A new phase in The Shores had just opened when we were lot searching and we fell in love with the lot location as well.  Looking out every morning across the lake is priceless!

Tell me about the search process. Did you consider buying an older home, or did you know you wanted a new home?

 Brandon probably didn’t care but I definitely wanted a new house and preferably wanted to build.

What is your favorite thing about your new home?

 Probably the pantry!  Lol!  It was one of the main reasons we picked the floor plan we did and the amount of storage we have in there is unbelievable.  The master shower would be a close second.  It feels like I’m at a spa whenever I get in there.  Oh, and the lake lot is pretty great too!

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

  Just that building a home is not as scary as it sounds!  It is stressful to a certain extent, as is any project of this scale, but was fun at the same time.  All the vendors that Summit works with are so accustomed to working with overwhelmed buyers that the selection process was pretty painless.
