Your Summit Homes New Home Orientation: What to Expect
July 25, 2025
Closing day is right around the corner—congratulations! But before we hand over the keys, there's an important step designed to make sure you feel confident and excited about your new home: your New Home Orientation.
This on-site meeting typically takes place a couple of weeks before closing and lasts about 1–3 hours. During this time, you'll meet with one of our Project Managers (PM), the person who has been overseeing stage two of your home's construction, to learn all about your new space.
What's Covered in the Orientation?
- Home Systems 101: Your PM will walk you through important features like your water shut-off valve, HVAC system, water heater, and irrigation system (if included). This is your chance to learn how everything works so you feel comfortable operating and maintaining your home.
- Your Warranty, Explained: We'll review your 1-, 2-, and 10-year warranty coverage, so you know exactly what's protected and for how long, and where to go if something happens.
- Cosmetic Check: Together, you'll walk the home to look for any small cosmetic details that need attention before closing day.
- Answering Your Questions: Have questions about your home? This is the perfect time to ask them; we want you to feel completely confident.
- Planning the Final Walk: You'll schedule your final walk-through, which happens just before closing, to ensure everything is set before you move in.
Your New Home Orientation is more than just a tour; it's your opportunity to get to know your home and the team that built it. Our goal is for you to feel empowered, informed, and ready to make unforgettable memories in your new Summit Home.
