Women in Construction: Dani Roesing
March 24, 2022
Summit Homes is grateful to have several incredibly strong female leaders on our team. In honor of Women's History Month, we wanted to pause and feature a few team members.
Meet Dani Roesing, Controller.

We sat down to ask Dani a few questions about her career, role models and why she chose the new construction industry.
How did you make your way to the construction industry?
After graduating college, my first job was for a home builder doing Accounts Payable. I was there for 2 years, then came on board at Summit Homes as an Accounting Specialist. Eventually moved my way up and became Controller after 8 years of hard work and dedication to this awesome company.
What is a piece of advice you would share with women wanting to work in the construction industry?
If I can do it, you can too! Construction is not just a men’s career – women can live up to this challenge too. I find construction (especially housing) a very interesting and challenging industry. There are a lot of fine details that play into building a house, starting from land and permitting to final walk-throughs and warranty. It’s hard work but so rewarding in the end.
What does your typical workday look like?
Putting out fires LOL! As a Controller, it is my responsibility to lead and assist my team in all aspects of our roles. We have an Accounts Payable group, as well as a Finance group, and we all strive for the same results. We get our trades paid every week, provide financial reports to our home office, and ensure that Summit Homes is the most profitable home builder in the Kansas City area.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is getting to work with intelligent and devoted Team Members every day. We all work hard to make sure our homeowners are 100% satisfied with their new home, while also supporting each other during difficult projects or when unexpected issues arise. Also knowing that I work for a company that truly cares about my wellbeing and puts family first is so important to me. And the end result of happy homeowners and happy employees is why Summit Homes is the most successful builder and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team!
How do you think construction can attract more female candidates?
There are so many opportunities in the construction industry for women. Think outside the box… there’s so much more than just building the house itself: there’s marketing the homes, selling the homes, paying bills for constructing the homes, purchasing and developing the land and lots, creating the architecture of the homes, etc. The options are endless. Without a doubt, women can achieve their career goals in any of the fields the construction industry has to offer.
