Get a jump on outdoor living
March 5, 2015
Take heart homeowners - spring is nearly upon us, and it's not too early to start planning. Check out these tips and ideas to help you get the yard you've always wanted in time for summer.
Make way for the mower
Get ready for mowing season by clearing away branches and leaves that accumulated over the winter. Check the air filter and spark plug on your lawn mower, drain any gas leftover from last season and buy fresh for this year. Don't forget to sharpen the mower blades too.
Prep your plants
Grab your gardening gloves and prune any fruit trees, summer-blooming shrubs, and roses. Take some time to divide your perennials to keep your flower beds healthy and fungus-free. Give the extra bulbs to your neighbors and friends to enjoy in their own gardens.
Get going on those veggies
There are many cool-season vegetables that should be planted before the weather gets too warm, such as peas, lettuce, and cauliflower. Reference this handy calendar as you plan for a full list of what to plan when for a full summer garden.
