Happy Homeowners: The Vincent Family

August 15, 2013

Two weeks ago, we featured a couple on the blog who has lived in their Summit home for a year. We got some great feedback, and it was fun to hear what they think of their home a year after moving in. SO, this week, we thought it would be cool to talk to a family who has been in their home for a shorter period of time - to see how the experiences compare.   l

Joseph and Lauren Vincent moved into their Summit home in High Point at Creekmoor a little over three months ago with their four boys and four dogs.

How did you hear about Summit Custom Homes? We heard about SCH while touring the parade of homes.  We fell in love with a specific model home, and found that SCH was the builder.   Why did you decide on a house in High Point at Creekmoor?/What were you looking for in a community? Initially, we wanted a home closer to my husband's job in Raymore.  After touring many communities all around Kansas City, we decided that the price of the homes for similar models was much more affordable in Raymore, along with lower taxes.  We also fell in love with the community of High Point at Creekmoor, which had nearly all of the amenities we loved in the larger, busier communities, but High Point was close enough to the country to really make it feel like a great home for our family to raise our children. Creekmoor offered us a high-end, high-quality community with an association that took pride in the appearance of the homes within the community. Plus, the schools are excellent and there are a bunch of great amenities, like fishing ponds, walking trails, a golf-course, and a clubhouse with a hot tub and pool. These were just a few of the reasons we fell in love with High Point. In the process of choosing our lot, we were given the opportunity to wait in order to pick the VERY FIRST LOT in High Point!  With oversized lots, and being backed up to a tree-line and the creek (plus a walk-out lot on top of that), we were simply blown away by the amount of property we were going to be getting for the price we were paying.   What was your biggest concern with buying a home? As with any home purchase, we wanted the home to be built on-time, and as we expected, with no surprises.  While building always has it's nuances and surprises are bound to happen, the easier the process is to get through, the happier any home buyer will be.   What were you looking for in a builder? In a home? We wanted a no-nonsense builder who would do things right the first time, and who would be concerned with the quality of the product (the homes they were building) above all else.  Knowing that this would be our home for the next 20-30 years or longer (we hope!), we wanted a house that would have everything we could want, and we wanted to have it built right. We wanted a home with enough space and luxuries to meet our large family's needs with plenty of space to entertain. We wanted upgrades that you just can't get in smaller, or lower quality homes.  Summit Custom Homes has top-notch upgrades available and provides high-end living at an affordable price that the average family can afford.   You moved in about two months ago – what has been your experience with the house so far? With the community?  We love the community!  Even though we don't really have many neighbors yet, we've already met some of the folks down the street, and our kids love going to the pool. We are so close to all the shopping venues we need, and registering our kids for school has been a breeze.  Our boys all say how beautiful and clean the schools look inside and out, and they can't wait to start school this year in Raymore!   What do you like best about your new home? We love everything!  We love the high quality finishes, the abundance of space our family has now, we love playing in the back  yard with our kids, we love the surrounding neighborhood, we love listening to all the outdoor sounds at night - the critters and animals in the creek, the tree line, and nearby ponds, we love the energy efficiency of our home which saves on our utilities, and we love the fact that whenever we have a problem, Summit is right there to help us resolve the issue and get it fixed. SCH has done an excellent job getting things done and making them right.  We can't say it was a perfect process, but since when is building a home perfect or easy?  We're very happy home owners, and we look forward to many years in our new home.
