On Saturday, November 23, supporters in more than 75 communities throughout the nation will participate in an exciting, family-friendly walk to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. One of those communities is in Kansas City’s own backyard, at Community America Ballpark.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is saving lives, and families never have to pay for their child’s treatment. Our involvement with the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is such a rewarding experience, and we wanted to extend our support of the children’s hospital through the Walk. It is so amazing to see all of the donations come in. We are ALMOST to $10,000!

We are so excited for the Walk. Summit employees are recruiting their family and friends to join the walk, and we’re inviting Summit homeowners (current and future!) to walk with us as well. A few days ago we had a kick-off breakfast at our office, and it was so cool to see the team get excited for the event. We’re joining together to save lives, and that’s really an amazing thing.

Visiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Earlier this year, representatives from Summit visited St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee with 30 other Dream Home builders from around the country, and got a tour of the hospital as well as its newest addition, the St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center. Opening in 2015, the Proton Therapy Center will be the first proton radiation therapy (PRT) center in the world dedicated solely to children, designed specifically to meet the needs of young patients.

The Proton Therapy Center was truly amazing to see. We work with St. Jude year round, but to actually visit the hospital in person really drives it home. St. Jude is doing astounding things for children across the world.

At the Builders Summit, we took home a Zero Hero award for the 2013 Dream Home (it was 100% donated - how amazing is that!?) 

The Walk takes place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Community America Ballpark: 1800 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66111. Check-in is at 8:00a.m., and the walk begins at 9:30a.m.
