Summit gives $50,000 to Harvesters - The community food network

December 21, 2020

This month the Summit team presented Harvesters, the community food network, with a check for $50,000. They use these funds toward sponsorships and the needs at local food pantries. Last year, they were able to distribute more than 47 million meals to hungry people across our region. We are proud to aid Harvester’s in their mission by contributing our financial support of their programs.

Over the summer, small groups of our team were also able to spend the afternoon working at Harvesters and volunteered to help sort and package food to be disbursed to those in need. Volunteering at Harvesters is always a privilege, but we felt is was especially important during the pandemic with so many people going without.

Harvesters is a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. They provide food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition. Their mission is to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow.
