The St. Jude Dream Home Front Door

The front door of a home is important: a stylish one can create a great a first impression of your home and give visitors a glimpse into your home's interior and the family who lives there.

With that in mind, Summit's in-house Designer, Darrell Naeger, has carefully selected the 2014 St. Jude Dream Home's front door.  It will feature a pineapple, to represent feelings of warmth, happiness, and family. You can read more about it here. 

Tickets for the Dream Home will go on sale June 11, 2014. You will be able to purchase tickets for $100 here or at the home's open houses, which will begin August 23, 2014.

A little bit about the history of using pineapples as a symbol of hospitality 

According to one website, "in larger, well-to-do homes, the dining room doors were kept closed to heighten visitors' suspense about the table being readied on the other side. At the appointed moment, and with the maximum amount of pomp and drama, the doors were flung open to reveal the evening's main event. Visitors confronted with pineapple-topped food displays felt particularly honored by a hostess who obviously spared no expense to ensure her guests' dining pleasure.

In this manner, the fruit which was the visual keystone of the feast naturally came to symbolize the high spirits of the social events themselves; the image of the pineapple coming to express the sense of welcome, good cheer, human warmth and family affection inherent to such gracious home gatherings."

EARLY BIRD DEADLINE: Tickets reserved by July 25, 2014 are eligible to win the Early Bird Prize, a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic LT 5 Door courtesy of Molle Chevrolet.

OPEN HOUSES: The St. Jude Dream Home will be open to the public starting August 23, 2014 on Saturdays from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Sundays from 12:00 – 5:00 pm. The house will be open to the public throughout the Fall Parade of Homes September 27 – October 12, 2014 every day from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.

DRAWING: The drawing for the 2014 St. Jude Dream Home will take place on October 12, 2014. Only 7,500 tickets will be sold.
