From our Design Team: Incorporating Trends

October 31, 2019

In the Design Studio we have heard from our customers that personalizing their dream home or finding ideas to uplift the home they live in can be overwhelming. Scouring the internet for inspiration can lead to design overload! Think of the hours you spend on Pinterest (we feel you!). The Design team at Summit Homes is constantly searching for the newest trends and listening to our clients to see what is important to them. We update our Pinterest page with the trends we are seeing and the things that give designer tingles.

Let us help you with the ever changing design trends and how to incorporate them in your new home – be it lighting, tile, accent trim like shiplap, the best paint colors – all the things to personalize your home! Here are a few trends that we are loving right now.

Modern Farmhouse

Think warmth, comfort, and a relaxed approach with a mix of light and dark contrasts and textures that works beautifully especially for a growing family. Think rustic country elements updated with a mix of industrial, minimal, and Scandinavian touches. Light wood floors that really showcase the wood grain, white cabinets and contrasting black hardware really define this trend. Here are some inspirational photos:

Rustic Luxe

Think Carrara marble, glossy subway tiles, a mix of woods and stone texture, with a little glam sprinkled in with brass accents and tile with a little sparkle. Add a mix of neutral fabrics and natural textures like faux fur to take this look to a luxe, but comfy level. Wood beams, spectacular light fixtures, warm woods and natural marble looks are what we are seeing in this trend. Check these out:

Bohemian Chic

Bohemian décor is a mix of globally inspired "finds" -  pattern tiles, dark rich woods, jewel tones and accessories with a natural or handmade feel. This eclectic style also touches on hints of everyday glamor via crystals and beads but can have an overall relaxed mood for a chic family. A neutral palette with pops of Mediterranean patterns and color define this trend. We are loving these looks we found online:
