5 Things You Might Not Know About Building a Home

Buying a home is most likely one of the largest investments you'll make. Why not get exactly what you want? Building a personalized home may sound intimidating at first, but it can save you time and money in the long run. 

Here are five things you might not know about building a new construction home versus purchasing a completed home: 

1. You DON'T need to sell your current home before you build. Building a new home can take a little more than six months, giving you plenty of time to list and sell your existing home. Many lenders have other solutions too, such as a bridge loan.
   
   
2. You will NOT make a mortgage payment until your home is complete. That's right. Just like purchasing a resale home, you don't start paying your mortgage until you've closed on your home.
   
   
3. You DON'T need 20% down to build.  We do ask for an earnest money deposit and there are helpful deposit scheduling options and lender financing options available. Consult with your lender for specifics.
   
   
4. You CAN choose from a wide variety of lots, floor plans and design selections to fit your budget and tastes. We can help you bring your vision to life. We like to say: we do the hard work, you do the fun work.
   
   
5. You CAN build with a fixed price and no surprises. Just like with resale, you lock in the price up front, including your design allowance. Our Design Team works to stay within your budget to eliminate any surprises. But, if you opt to personalize with a few more upgrades than planned, we can roll those costs into your mortgage.
